A data model is a collection of conceptual tools for describing:
· Data
· Data relationships
· Data semantics
· Consistency constraints
Data models:
· Provide a way of thinking about data that isn't linked to the implementation of the database
· Are used at the conceptual and view levels.
Kinds of data models:
· Object-based logical models
· Record-based logical models
· Physical data models
